The Orbix 8MX DVR is designed for reliability and ease of use. It uses H264 video compression for high quality video and small file size.  Hard disk drive integrity is safeguarded by our S.M.A.R.T. monitoring system that lets you know immediately if storage space is running out or if the HDD needs attention. You can use a PC (with MS Internet Explorer 7 and above) to monitor your DVR remotely. Use our client software (free, with updates downloadable from our support site) to manage and program your DVR (a password prevents unauthorized access) if you need to change anything and you're not there in person. Multiple USB 2.0 ports let you hook up portable devices (like a DVD R/W drive or a portable HDD) to make archival backups.
